Christians and Tipping

Relevant Magazine has an article about Christians and tipping. It's worth a read. I've actually heard this exact same thing before from Christina had a professor who tipped well because he knew that Christians left a really bad impression on many restaurants.

... money is one thing, but all of it stems from a much much deeper problem that's incredibly hard if not impossible to "fix" by a third-party. The problem is ATTITUDE.

Rarely do we ever step back to examine our own actions and their consequences. One VERY simple thing that our fast-paced society has almost if not completely forgotten... HOLDING DOORS FOR OTHERS. Damn it's gold when someone does that for me. I carry almost 50 pounds of gear on me when I shoot - camera one hand, tripod on the other and a bag with batteries, tapes and miscellaneous things. VERY VERY rarely does anyone (hold) open the door for me. 9 out of 10 people simply walk through the door and leave it to slam shut behind them. I'm not the only one who has broken plate-glass doors with our equipment because we didn't expect the closer to kick back the door as hard and fast.

All it takes is a simple glance back to see if anyone is behind you, and it takes all of two seconds to hold open a door for a person who is obviously loaded down with gear and has no free hand.

But unfortunately, that is too much to ask of most people. Christians included.

Think about it - if those two seconds to hold the door open made THE difference whether or not you were on time for your event, I think there's a bigger problem.
